Obligatory Resolutions and Luke Skywalker on Facebook

Priceless.

So one of my resolutions for 2010 is to try and update my site here at least once per week. I pretty much did it last year, but it was scattered with multiple posts one week and no posts for multiple months. I am going to do what I can to stick with this, not for my readers (because there are none), but just to show myself that I give a crap enough.

Some Resolutions for 2010:

  1. Be a fantastic husband to my new wife
  2. Redesign HouseofCopy.com and gain at least 5 new clients
  3. Publish a short story
  4. Get at least one rejection letter for my novel
  5. Publish a non-fiction article
  6. Get 500 Visits per month on WineWelfare.com
  7. Review at least 2 wines per week on WineWelfare.com
  8. Lose 15 pounds
  9. Go to visit the wife’s family in Italy
  10. Learn (some) Italian

If I can think of any more I’m going to update this because it’s making me really think ahead and plan goals.

What are your resolutions for 2010? Or, if you don’t like that word, what are your goals for 2010? Let me know in the comments!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who comes to this silly little blog and to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Hope you keep reading in 2010! And yes, I realize the theme has changed yet again, but rest assured, I only change it to learn more and more about WordPress. So it may change again, but I’m digging the simplicity of this one.

Happy Holidays!

Perfect Wedding and Left Hand Heavier

Perfect, perfect day.

Mr. and Mrs. Brian Clark

It was five months of planning, preparation, decisions and very difficult times, all leading up to the best day of my life (so far; I expect many more from this woman). Between the decision to use my Mother and her husband’s home as the venue, the food, the flowers, the invites, the music, the chairs & tables, decorations, wedding shower, and everything else that I’m sure I’ve forgotten, our wedding succeeded thanks to the work of a large group of people.

My mother, Susan, and her husband, Jeff.

Angela’s parents, Kay and Adriana.

My step-parents, Don and Judi.

My Aunt Linda, Uncle Ron and Cousin Laura.

Angela’s brother and sister-in-law, David and Sara (and Andrew for wearing the vest)

My step-sister, Kendall and her husband, Brandon.

Our family friend, Melanie.

If there is anyone we left out, and you happen to stumble on over to this silly site and not see your name, just blame it on me, but know that we thank you as well.

We will never be able to thank you all enough for helping to bring us the most perfect and happiest day of our lives (like I said, so far). We love each and ever one of you very much.

Looking back, Angela and I breathed a collective sigh and are currently basking in the unbelievable fact that there is nothing left to plan. The days felt empty for two seconds before they were filled with an amazing new thought:

We did it.

So, finally,  here’s to you, Angela: My stunning, kind, generous and absolutely wonderful wife. I will love you until my last breath.

We did it, indeed.

Damn Hackers

frustration_reliefThe site’s new look comes courtesy of the recent worldwide WordPress hack that pretty much forced Hell to add a few hundred more reserved seats to its blazing confines. Hackers, to me, are right up there with violent criminals, tyrannical dictators and emo musicians as examples of “People I Would Not Brake For Should I See Them Crossing the Street.”

So basically, I had to go through a bunch of steps to fix the WordPress install and gather everything from my database, change passwords, etc. Everything should be good to go now.

And as an added bonus, my other site, Wine Welfare, was also part of the thousands of hacked sites. It took a worse hit than this one. So, onward to fixing that as well.

I know that I don’t really rely on these sites to make money, and there are FAR more important and terrible things happening in this world, but having a couple of your dinky little websites hacked is so stupid that it becomes incredibly annoying.

Ah well. To tell you the truth, I am enjoying this theme much more. Much cleaner, less “trying too hard” styling. The old theme was fun, and I worked very hard on it, but…change is nature.

Be sure to always update to the latest version of WordPress, whenever you see the notice at the top of your admin screen. If you run a WordPress site and think you may have been hacked, here are two articles that will help you clean out your install and start again, hopefully with all of your content intact (thank you, WP-database manager).
